It wasn't my favorite. I've yet to read the 5th, but felt like this one served more as a transition to place some of the characters for what's to come. I did however adore the Cersei chapters! She's become one fo my favorite characters. I have a feeling they will have to merge elements from books 4 and 5 for the tv series.

Ye of little faith! I can't believe all the comments in here. The book is great. George Martin is the author and he can do what he wants with the story. I say the more characters the better. This book holds true to story/plot/pacing as all the others. The book opens the rest of the author's world up by exploring different regions, religions, and characters making the story evening more grand and epic. Shame on you readers for not seeing his vision!

I have just finished reading this 4th book and I must say it has been an utter disappointment. The building promise and developed characters were ready to launch into Feast For Crows with so much potential. However we forget about the young queen across the sea and spend most of our time wandering back and forth through the countryside or in Cerci's court. Snooze. In the authors own words "this one was a b**ch to write" and it shows that he truly struggled with continuing the development of the material, plots and characters. I have little doubt that the enticement of the developing HBO TV series encouraged the author to drag out this instalment. If this was the style of book 1 this title would not be enjoying success.

Parle un peu trop des "Iron men" à mon goût. Je n'aime pas vraiment ce peuple simili vicking. Le mystère sur Tyrion reste entier, car il brille par son absence.

For those who have made it thus far, never forget what Jamie did at the start of book one, he is evil and I dislike investing so much time reading about evil people. Almost as bad are the whiner characters. There are far too few characters who don't fall into one of those two groups.

By itself, this book is the worst of the series. Not that it's bad by any means. It leaves a lot of unanswered questions and moves along a little slowly. But, as the author states in the beginning of A Dance With Dragons, this book is only about half of the story he was trying to tell. ADWD jumps back and covers all the bases that left you scratching your head and moves the story along as well and fluently as the first three books. As long as you know to take A Feast For Crows and A Dance With Dragons together as a common story you won't be disappointed.

Bring on book 5!!! I am so excited that it comes out this month!

Martin has painted himself into a corner with this one. Very disappointing. Many chapters served no useful purpose and seemed only to pad the storyline and take up pages-I hope I'm wrong. At the rate with which Martin is either killing or maiming my favorite characters I wonder just who will be left standing and who will save the day? Nevertheless since LOTR and RJ's Wheel of Time, this is by far the best fantasy series I've read. The others are all pretenders. Hopefully Martin can redeem himself with ADWG-I can't wait.
