Smart. Unpredictable. The underlying love storyline gives it a soap opera feel. If it focused more on the cases and less on the love story it would be a much better tv series.

I never watched this show when it first came on, but heard several people describe it as addicting. They are right. I just happened to catch the first episode recently on late night weekend TV and couldn't stop watching, from the very first scene all the way through to the end. But once I find something I like, I don't want to wait around a week for the next episode. So, time to binge-watch the DVD.

Full of rapid-fire dialogue, I keep subtitles on. And still have the need to rewind from time to time. Can't say the basic premise is believable: a conservative Republican President has an affair with a black woman, his chief-of-staff is secretly gay, and [SPOILER ALERT] the election vote is rigged in Ohio (well, yes, I can believe that last one). But the story line arcs are well thought out and the performances are as good as any.

It is a fun and enjoyable ride through this opening season. And, keep in mind, Olivia is based on an actual person who works in "damage control." Something to think about.

KerryWashington dresses in white (a lot), drinks lots of red wine and walks... and talks very fast...

... enjoy this show as a guilty pleasure... because it might not have the content-enough to be more than that. One reviewer compared SCANDAL to DAMAGES, but for me: sorry, DAMAGES was superb, and far better than this series. Again, not bad as a guilty pleasure, but Ms.Washington.... a very attractive woman, who is beautifully costumed ( for the most part) is not devastatingly beautiful enough to convince me that she would... relentlessly, have such a knock-me-down impact on all the men who cross her path ( I definitely could see, let's say, VanessaWilliams in this role, and it would all be, then, much more plausible). None-the-less, Ms.Washington soldiers-on with the material-given, which relies far too much on "things happening" rather than character development. Two of the more interesting characters are Ms.FirstLady and Huck.... though both are drawn a bit too broadly ( sometimes approaching caricature) for my taste. But... if it's a choice between DAMAGES and SCANDAL.... there is no choice.

I love this show because (like House, M.D.) it's about somebody powerful and absolutely brillant, and is unfailingly plot-rich, humane and humourous.

Awesome plot! The first episode was interesting with the gay twist, but I would've preffered not to see two men kissing. I find it werid the president in a republican and Cyrus is gay. I don't really want to see any gay scenes, but it was interesting. Finsished 7 episodes in one night! For everyone to watch!

This show is cocaine for plot junkies. Season one is seven episodes long. Nine episodes would have given the actors a normal amount of breathing room.

The ultra fast pace in dialogue full of clich├ęs were often unnerving to follow and hard to digest all at once. Nonetheless, the plot was fresh and events were engaging. Reminded me a bit like "Damages" that the heroine could do no wrong.

The chemistry between Tony Goldwyn and Kerry Washington is amazing.
