Butter Baked Goods is a gorgeously illustrated cookbook, packed with delicious recipes perfect for celebrating a special holiday with family and friends, or just everyday life. Inside you'll find everything from cookies, scones and s'mores to chocolate cake, peanut butter and jelly cupcakes and apple pie . . . not to mention the coveted recipe for Butter's famous marshmallows!

Butter Baked Goods began as a tiny bakery in Vancouver. Opened in 2007 by Rosie Daykin, the bakery is a pink-and-pistachio slice of heaven, its counters piled high with cake stands overflowing with irresistible baked goods. Not long after opening, word got out about the bakery's marshmallows and Butter Baked Goods became known as the home of the very best gourmet marshmallow in North America, a delicious treat that can now be found in over 300 stores (and counting) across Canada, the U.S. and Japan. The recipe for Rosie's famous marshmallows is just one of the gems tucked inside the pages of this beautiful book.

Every recipe in Butter Baked Goods has simple instructions written in an accessible and easy-to-follow style. Everyone can create Butter's delectable treats--from grandmothers who have been baking all their lives to teenagers making their very first cupcakes. Rosie's baking is not about trickery, flamboyance or hard-to-find ingredients, but about great-tasting, homemade treats to celebrate life's milestones: birthdays, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, baby showers, bridal showers; or that gloomy, rainy afternoon when you need a little pick-me-up. Butter Baked Goods showcases nostalgic home baking at its very best.

I simply LOVE this recipe book!! Each recipe has easy-to-follow directions, and I like that each also has a comment from Rosie Daykin. Reading this book, I just want to bake all day!

A beautiful book - not only are you inspired to bake all the recipes, but you want to eat the book itself! Delicicous art direction and a very thorough listing of equipment and ingredients.

Definitely not a diet book! But great for treats and bring along dishes. Very high fat and high carb, but once in a while...

From the time she could hold a wooden spoon, Rosie Daykin has called herself a baker. At the age of six, she knew that she would one day open her own bakery. In 2007, after 14 years as an interior designer and no formal training in the kitchen, Daykin opened Butter Baked Goods in Vancouver. The establishment has since expanded to two locations and some of its offerings (its signature marshmallows, most famously) now appear at retail locations all over North America and as far away as Japan.

Daykin's book displays a refreshingly straightforward approach, focusing on the kinds of treats people remember from childhood: cakes with buttercream frosting, classic pies, cookies and bars. Her recipes read easily and call for basic ingredients that most bakers will already have on hand. A beautiful colour photo accompanies each recipe and Daykin also includes photo-illustrations of baking methods, handling pastry and decorating cupcakes. She provides notes on how to stock your pantry, a glossary of tools and techniques and accurate but not-too-serious instructions ("cream the heck out of the butter and sugar").

The size of Daykin's products may appal home bakers; butterscotch scones, for instance, call for 5 cups of flour, 1 1/2 cups of butter and only yield ten scones! However, they can easily be cut smaller and baked for a shorter time. Whatever your baking skills, all "Butter's" recipes lie within reach. From snickerdoodles to shoo fly pie, PB and jelly cupcakes to chocolate buttercream and even to those famous marshmallows, Daykin's book contains something special for every sweet tooth.

"Sometimes you start out in one direction, then life throws you a curveball and you find yourself headed in another. Like my plan to have a little bakery on the west side of Vancouver, and the next thing you know, I'm building a marshmallow factory. Sometimes those little twists and turns can turn out to be the best thing."
