This is a beautiful meditation on the heart of what Pink Floyd was as a group. Wright's keyboards are the foundation, and Gilmour's guitar soars and glides.
Not your typical Pink Floyd but great nonetheless. Almost entirely instrumental. Great atmospheric guitar work from David Gilmour.
the album is full of aurally compelling and beautifully crafted soundscapes. This is one of those albums that stays with you, long after the CD has stopped spinning the player...its long tracks are over before you know it. Prepared to be and remain awed.
Pink Floyd's swan song. Nostalgic Floydian sound based on material recorded during the Division Bell recording. Ambient and instrumental. Autumn '68" features a recording of Richard Wright playing the Royal Albert Hall's pipe organ. The album title is taken from a lyric on the last track from The Division Bell, "High Hopes": "The water flowing / The endless river / Forever and ever". Even though that it may not be their greatest release, for sure it's wonderful and exceptional concept.
This is a classic Floyd album where past meets present and weave a rich tapestry of themes. Richard Wrights keyboard compilations are sublime and as it is their last album it has an appropriate feel that only Floyd can deliver. A most excellent listen.
best album in 21st century
Nice headphone listen. Shouldn't be called Pink Floyd because does not compare to their epics like Dark Side of the Moon or Wish You Were Here. Never the less, it has the PF vibe and is very pleasant to listen to.
This is a terrific album. Read what Gilmour and Mason said it was all about to fully grasp it. This is for fans who know thier entire musical catalog.
it isn't fair to call this an album. it is more like listening to tidbits that never made it into songs. it should have been released as an extra disc with the 20th anniversary of the division bell release.
An ultra marathon for the mind. You'll need extreme mental endurance to get from start to finish without falling asleep to this.
Highly recommended to insomniacs.
True story: The 2015 edition of the Oxford English Dictionary is having the entry for " snoozefest" edited to include an image of Endless River.
