In this charming romantic comedy perfect for fans of Meg Cabot and Sophie Kinsella, critically acclaimed author Teri Wilson shows us that sometimes being pushed out of your comfort zone leads you to the ultimate prize.

Charlotte Gorman loves her job as an elementary school librarian, and is content to experience life through the pages of her books. Which couldn't be more opposite from her identical twin sister. Ginny, an Instagram-famous beauty pageant contestant, has been chasing a crown since she was old enough to enunciate the words world peace, and she's not giving up until she gets the title of Miss American Treasure. And Ginny's refusing to do it alone this time.

She drags Charlotte to the pageant as a good luck charm, but the winning plan quickly goes awry when Ginny has a terrible, face-altering allergic reaction the night before the pageant, and Charlotte suddenly finds herself in a switcheroo the twins haven't successfully pulled off in decades.

Woefully unprepared for the glittery world of hair extensions, false eyelashes, and push-up bras, Charlotte is mortified at every unstable step in her sky-high stilettos. But as she discovers there's more to her fellow contestants than just wanting a sparkly crown, Charlotte realizes she has a whole new motivation for winning.

A fun, fluffy romance with identical twins taking each other's places (hijinks ensue). I enjoyed the main character's personality even though her life circumstances were a bit far-fetched. I liked that beauty pageants and contestants were complex in this story.

A lovely light read! Not too big and not too short, it had the right amount of quirkiness, humour, drama and love. I loved how it felt fast paced yet steady at the same time. The protagonist of the book was so full of charm and made me laugh all the way. She was written in a way which made her very relatable to me and I really enjoyed reading her story. Overall, this was a wonderful chick lit to read and relax.

Light, fluffy , funny, predictable, enjoyable, nerdy book references, rom-com, and as most of the reviews have stated- a cross between Miss Congeniality and the Parent Trap.

The Parent Trap Meets Miss Congeniality in this frothy, fun book by Teri Wilson. The Accidental Beauty Queen is exactly what you’d expect from the title and cover: a tulle and rhinestone-filled romp with humor, hijinks, and witty dialogue. If baton-twirling isn’t your thing, you might still enjoy the Harry Potter references, cute pup Buttercup and the predictable yet sweet Happy Ever After.

So I managed to read this book in just under an hour. Now, before you panic, I read quickly. Plus, there is a a lot of white space. The margins, between each line, at the beginning of a chapter... just tons of white space.

I picked up the book as it featured a librarian who had to stand in for her sister in a beauty pageant. Also, it was declared it was a romance. I found it was less romance and more chick lit (which is not my favourite at all). Very similar to the movie "Miss Congeniality," which the author refers to many times.

This was not what I was hoping for, and I was not sympathetic to any of the characters. Also, the librarian didn't read any of the books she had with her!!!

It was a fun read - you know where it is going but it was still a good ride. I would recommend it if you do not want something smutty but rather more comedy in your romances. It would make a great film!

A quick read, predictable but funny moments, nerdy moments...you wanted to find out how this was actually going to work.

3.5 - 4 Stars - I recommend if you enjoy contemporary romances, humor, nerdy references, and PG-13 romance.

Ginny and Charlotte are twins and polar opposites. Ginny is a beauty queen with an Instagram presence that earns her living. Charlotte is a school librarian with a minor Harry Potter obsession. When Charlotte agrees to attend Ginny's pageant in Florida she imagines she'll be there for the finals to cheer her sister on.. .but otherwise reading and visiting Harry Potter World. However, when Ginny has an allergic reaction and is unable to compete she convinces Charlotte to take her place for the first few days. What can go wrong? Not to mention... one of the judges is both nerdy, and incredibly handsome.

This is a really cute, quick read. I enjoyed this Parent Trap meets Miss Congeniality plot. At first I was hoping for the whole story to be about Ginny and Charlotte... Sort of a coming to terms story with their sisterhood and their differences. As the book went though, I really ended up liking Grey. So I wasn't too sad that there was romance involved in the plot too. It was very cute in a nerdy sort of way (so many Harry Potter references! etc.). Also she says her favorite book is Jane Eyre. So it's a keeper for obvious reasons. I liked that this book did address the issues she had with her sister, and with herself as well as the romantic plot. This was a very cute PG-13 sort of romance... and I liked it. :)

The bookworm librarian in me really enjoyed this book as did my twin sister self (although not identical). Twin sisters Charlotte and Ginny are together for the Miss America Treasure Pageant. Ginny is the contestant and Charlotte the observer until an allergic reaction sidelines Ginny in the room during the prelims. She talks Charlotte into taking her place and we all know that the chickens are going to come home to roost before long. A lovely escape with some classic literary references. Curl up with a cup of cocoa and enjoy.

A New & Noteworthy pick. A shy librarian switches places when her twin, competing in a beauty pageant, has an allergic reaction and needs to give her swollen face a couple of days to recover. Surprisingly, the nerdish twin does very well. Charming and a lot of fun.
