Gentle story of a middle-aged widower preparing to let his daughter start living her dream while coming to terms with his long-lost plans. Before returning the DVD, I made sure the songs were available on Youtube so that I can listen to them again. It's a 3-star movie, but I gave it an extra star because I liked the music so much.

Some light fare. An interesting premise which could have used some real life grit, because not everything works out perfectly for everyone in real life as it did for these characters.

A sweet and gentle story of a father who is struggling to keep his record store open. Dreading the approaching day his daughter will be leaving for college, he has the two of them record a sweet song. Without her knowing, he uploads it to Spotify and it becomes a huge hit over night. I loved this movie for it's original music, Nick Offerman's performance (not a typical role for him), and LGBTQ representation.

Not particularly memorable, although done well.

Excellent, fun, wholesome coming of age story and how we make meaning in life.

The only ones that seem to dislike it are those that are not LGBT supportive, and feel that there should be no LGBT representation in cinema.

Nice try. I tire of the brilliant, focused child of a confused, grieving, directionless parent looking for…? A lot of “discoveries” were made for both of them. Oh goody.

Although parts of the movie were a bit slow, I liked the movie because the music was beautiful, Kiersey Clemons has an amazing voice. The banter between Sam and her dad made me laugh several times, they had good chemistry.

I LOVED this movie! It is so well done. The music is very good! Very natural story of coping with loss, growing up, moving on, and incorporating creativity into your life!

Movie was low key and on a sad note. Father , ex- singer, musician, raising a daughter that clearly has little admiration for him. Father discovers his daughter has a voice. There is some libian experimentation by the man's daughter that may be alarming to parents. I don't recommend this movie as entertaining.
