Really awesome movie. I suppose especially so if you're into poker.

Rounders is a good movie about the exploits of top poker players that make their rounds at various poker games with expectations of big winnings. The acting in this movie is tops; Matt Damon, Edward Norton and John Malkovich all give good performances. IMHO John Malkovich steals the show with his portrayal of Teddy KGB, a Russian mobster that runs his own underground casino. Matt Damon and Edward Norton act characters that play off one another; one is a player that uses pure skill, and plays straight to win, while the other uses tricks, cheats and various mechanisms to win. Even if you don't know much about poker (I didn't), this movie will easily pull you into the world of high stakes poker in a way that Casino Royale never could.

This was before internet poker became popular and the "World Series of poker"'s grand prize was only a million.

It is a movie that is very realistic to how a lot of cash game players make a living. Of course there is some dramatic licence but some of the poker stars themselves are big fans of this movie.

The biggest of them all, Johnny Chan, helped with the movie. He also makes a cameo.

Mike McDermott: [Narrating while entering Teddy KGB's underground gambling parlor] In "Confessions of a Winning Poker Player," Jack King said, "Few players recall big pots they have won, strange as it seems, but every player can remember with remarkable accuracy the outstanding tough beats of his career." It seems true to me, cause walking in here, I can hardly remember how I built my bankroll, but I can't stop thinking of how I lost it.
