Let me count the ways I like this movie. It is a true story with some liberties taken. The action seems so real that you wonder if anyone got hurt in the filming. Elmer Bernstein has a terrific soundtrack to the film. Last, but not least, the film is full of great acting on everyone's part. That even includes Robert Vaughn playing a German Officer. As war movies go, this is one of the better war movies available.

This is a 1969 war film based on the true story and directed by John Guillermin.
It was shot on location in Czechoslovakia.
Although it is based on the historical events, the film is a highly-fictionalized version of actual events during the last months of World War II
when the U.S. 9th Armored Division approached Remagen and found the Ludendorff Bridge still intact.
The bridge, named for General Erich Ludendorff, is never actually mentioned by name in the movie.
The Allies are making their final advance into German territory, and only one strategic bridge on the Rhine River remains in Nazi hands.
Both sides have much to gain: the Germans, the lives of 50,000 soldiers stationed on the wrong side of the bridge;
and the Allies, a quicker end to the war with fewer lives lost.
Though both armies would fight valiantly, only one could win the heartrending battle.
On March 17, 1945, ten days after its capture,
the battle-torn bridge at Remagen collapsed into the Rhine.
It is such an exciting and thrilling docu-drama with fine-acting all-star cast that you would feel as if you stood and observed on the front lines of the battle
with the courageous soldiers who fought it.

The Bridge At Remagen is a brutally violent and highly-explosive WW2 drama (from 1969) where, once again, the Americans get the sweet, privileged opportunity to kick some serious Nazi-ass on German soil._____ Set along the Rhine River, this action-packed war picture certainly contained plenty of first-rate special effects, as well as some dynamite-charged action sequences._____ With its all-star cast, headlined by George Segal, Ben Gazzara & Robert Vaughn, this film's story is a very liberal re-telling of actual events that took place in 1945 when the Allies made a final advance into German territory in order to gain control of the one, last bridge still standing on the Rhine which remained in Nazi hands._____ Filmed in living-color, this picture had a running time of 117 minutes.
