Robert Redford plays an ex-world champion cowboy, reduced to huckstering breakfast food in a suit studded with flashing lights. Jane Fonda is a chic, sharp member of the electronic media, a TV newswoman who'll do anything to get a good story. When Redford rides out of a Las Vegas casino into the desert astride his sponsor's living symbol, a multi-million dollar racehorse, Jane is determined to discover why. She does, one step ahead of a posse of pursuing police. But by the time they reach a remote rendezvous high in the Utah Mountains, she is in love with both the cowboy and his convictions.

This movie is a sentimental favorite of mine. I had not viewed it since seeing it in a theater in 1979. I was very curious to see if it held up after 40 years. I enjoyed watching it though a few things are, of course, dated - like disco music.... I have been a Robert Redford fan for almost 60 years. In about 1960, I remember seeing Mr. Redford on tv in the Twilight Zone, Alfred Hitchcock, and Perry Mason series, but I remember him first of the big screen in Inside Daisy Clover and The Chase. If you like the chemistry of Fonda and Redford, you should see Barefoot in the Park from 1967. He directed Ordinary People in 1980 - one of my all time top 100 films. Enough about Mr. Redford. Seeing Robert Redford and Jane Fonda so young was fun. The ideas of exploitation and greed certainly reflect current values. I recommend this film. Kristi & Abby Tabby
