172 minutes? Almost three hours, that is. The original theatrical release was 141 minutes, a half hour shorter! And that's too long.

“The Happiest Millionaire” is truly a wonderful musical that everyone will love! It is filled with comedy and great music including songs such as, “Fortuosity,” “Detroit,” and “What’s Wrong With That?” Fred MacMurray, Tommy Steele, John Davidson and others make this film one of Disney’s greatest!

I'm kind of a sucker for old movies and movie musicals; so take my opinion with a grain of salt. This is long, and it takes a LONG time for the plot to go anywhere, but it does establish the family pretty well. An eccentric millionaire with a doting wife, ambitious children who box, and a slew of pet alligators simply has to deal with changes in his life as his children grow up. That's about it for plot. The music is nice, the atmosphere is whimsical, and it does present some conflict. I like it. 5 Stars.

I really like most musicals, especially from Disney (like Mary Poppins), but this one is tough to get through. It's just kind of BORING and overly long. I know, it's from a different era (the 1960s), in fact, it's Walt Disney's last film before he died. Has a great cast though! If you have time and are in the mood, it might be worth watching but the kids in your family will definitely be bored to tears (as will you). Just a word of warning! The material is a bit dated.

Very enjoyable old Disney film; especially enjoyed the cast. Fred M. is an aging athlete and trains his family to be athletic, including making his daughter somewhat of a tomboy. Very clean film, good music also.
