Set in the 1980s this is the story of a Cardinal who grapples with his Jewish heritage while also serving the Catholic church. He becomes a good friend to the Pope and has a pivotal role in repairing Jewish Catholic relations during the era of Communist Poland - where the Bishop's family is originally from and some escaped the Nazi's in World War II. I found this to be very interesting. I hadn't thought of Auschwitz in the way it is outlined in the film during the communist era. I found this film thought provoking.
