I love the actors but this is just the worst movie ever... 2 hours and 40 minutes of my life that I can never take back. Really a waste of time! But I’m glad the ending wasn’t so bad, and it showed loyalty between two friends but most of it is pointless.

An entertaining movie about 1969 Hollywood
. Good acting and a ' what if' movie in typical Tarantino alternative reality fiction.

Two storylines that eventually converged, jarringly and violently.
Two notes of interest: DiCaprio's anguished and self-doubting character, and the wowza sets.
How Brad Pit got an Oscar is beyond me. Was it his hunky handyman roof scene?

"Once up on a time" Tarantino, DiCaprio and Pitt made debacle movie. Lots of smoking. Only good thing about this trash was the vintage cars.

"Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" is the ninth film by Quentin Tarantino, best known for his over the top violence and riveting stories. The film is set in 1969 Los Angeles in the last days of the Golden Age of Hollywood. The story follows Rick Dalton, an older actor in the mould of John Wayne or Clark Gabble, a rough leading man played by Leonardo Dicaprio; and his stunt double/chauffeur/best friend or as the movie puts it: "a man who is more than a brother, but less than a wife," Cliff Booth, played by Brad Pitt. Dalton and Booth both are navigating the end of the era, indulging in drinking, taking on jobs on TV playing as heavies or traveling to Italy to act in Spaghetti Westerns. The story also includes, almost as a secondary plot lines, the relationship of Roman Pulanski and Sharon Tate (played by Margot Robbie) and the rise of the Manson Cult. The film is so full of cultural references and nods to the Gold Age of Film, it is mind-blowing, the film was a real treat and I would say that is worth seeing more than once.

For all the big names in this, you’d think it would be better. Made it less than a half hour and was falling asleep, at 4 in the afternoon. What a snooze fest!

There appears to be a love / hate relationship with this film based on the comments I've read.
I can honestly say both sides have a valid point. It's a bit tricky to follow the many subplots to this one, but Tarantino loves to make it a challenge. He clearly puts his love of fifties and sixties Hollywood on display. DiCaprio definitely shines in this one and the ending is bananas. That being said, this may not be for everyone, but It's a good movie to break up the binge watching of endless TV series.

46 quotes posted in IMDb already. Thanks to its contributors. The best lines come from the brilliant little woman Trudi Fraser (Julia Butters):

I believe it's the job of an actor - and I say actor, not actress because the word actress is nonsensical - it's the actor's job to avoid impediments to their performance. It's the actor's job to strive for one hundred percent effectiveness. Naturally, we never succeed, but it's the pursuit..that's meaningful.

That was the best acting I've ever seen in my whole life.
-Thank you.

I don't like names like 'Pumpkin Puss'... but since you're upset, we'll talk about it some other time.

***If you want more of the wise-beyond-her-years Trudi, watch one of the deleted scenes when Trudi welcomes her two step-brothers (Timothy Olyphant as James Stacy and Luke Perry as Wayne Maunder) who have just ridden in town from a wagon.
