Experience the unforgettable, heartbreaking love story set in post-World War II North Carolina about a young socialite and the boy who once stole her heart -- one of PBS's "Great American Reads".

Every so often a love story so captures our hearts that it becomes more than a story-it becomes an experience to remember forever. The Notebook is such a book. It is a celebration of how passion can be ageless and timeless, a tale that moves us to laughter and tears and makes us believe in true love all over again...

At thirty-one, Noah Calhoun, back in coastal North Carolina after World War II, is haunted by images of the girl he lost more than a decade earlier. At twenty-nine, socialite Allie Nelson is about to marry a wealthy lawyer, but she cannot stop thinking about the boy who long ago stole her heart. I’m a huge fan of romance and if you are too then you’ll love The Notebook. I will admit however that the novel is a tad bit cliché considering the whole set up, he’s a poor country boy and she’s a wealthy city girl. What I do like about this novel is how the main male protagonist, Noah, shows the female protagonist, Allie, how to have fun outside and how to let go despite all the tutoring she has to do and work. Another thing about the novel I love is that the two were separated but find each other again. Whether they fall back in love again or not is for yo to find out. In between all the plots there were also a few twists I never expected but all I’ll say is that there’s definitely some character development. @Celine of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library

After reading this book it makes me wonder, does that kind of love really exist?? And I want to believe that it can happen. Noah and Allie’s love story is one of a kind it was tested and shaped through time.

One of my most favourites of Nicholas Sparks' novels that was later adapted to a romance movie. Incredibly memorable, inseparable, unconditional, powerful, and romantic love between these young ones, who came from different family background with different socioeconomic status/class.

Despite their major differences and tough times, the strong bond and undying love still remains down the road, which surprisingly did not stop them from seeing each other. Sadness, anger, jealousy, and happiness all constantly experienced throughout the story, but destiny/fate has truly brought them together in the name of love.

I strongly recommend this book to anyone who are interested in true and everlasting love! <3

Maybe if I were thirteen and foolish I would have liked this piece of romantic fluff. I have to give it to Mr. Sparks for coming up with the formula for what a lot of women like—the sex scene had me laughing—And that final sentence! Seriously! Try Jane Austen if you want romance.

I was deeply moved by this tearful romance novel about a common man and a common woman who love each other with all their heart and soul. I admit that the writing is rather blunt (and a touch sappy at times), but the powerful story is deeply meaningful. "I am a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough."

A delightful tale of the truest of love and the best of human nature it promotes. Noah and Allie, teenage lovers, separated by war and for 10 years. rediscover each other just as Allie is to marry Lon, upright but not a rugged lover. With twists, true love prevails. And then the real twist – fast forward to the present where aged Noah and Alzheimer patient Allie are in a care home, and you discover the real meaning of true love.

Noah and Allie come from different lifestyles and fall in love. The couple goes through a lot but nothing keeps them apart. - Franchesca, Teen Volunteer
