Paul Parker was the ultimate bon vivant, charismatic but feckless, who left his wealthy wife Veronique and three beautiful daughters wounded and wary of men. But after his death, Paul shows surprising insight in the bequests he leaves to each. While Paul may have shown his daughters more support and affection in his final will than he ever did in his actual life, he leaves Veronique with a shocking revelation that shatters her remaining illusions about the understanding they had shared: the existence of a now-adult daughter who'd been born three years before their divorce. Yet this too, is a gift, as it propels Veronique to at last forge a life of her own - and to open her heart to the magnetic photographer she meets in the course of her journey.

My second read for this book. Read it years ago and found it to be a great book. A weathy woman and her 3 daughters and one step son. The daughters are selfish and the step only wants there money. The mother has no life of her own and her daughters at sometimes are very selfish.

Read three pages, and I was bored to tears. Could not go any further. Three pages of endless detail about somebody planning funeral details. Where is the entertainment? The author must get paid by the word.

It took me a lot longer to read this book than any other of Danielle Steel's. I don't know why though. I go thru periods where I'm not into reading so I would put it down and pick it up here and there.
This book was well written but it took awhile to get to the thick of the plot. Amazing ending! Just beautiful!
