I was really excited to see Molly Ringwald in a new series, which is why I tuned in to "Secret Life". However, after only four episodes, I had seen enough. This show is awful! I was just appalled with the way this show is written. Almost every sentence had the word "s**" in it. At one point, one of the main characters went into the counselor's office for advice on sleeping with a girl. This boy couldn't have been older than 15. To my amazement, the counselor supported his decision! Very disturbing message. I don't have children, but I watched this show with my husband and even he seemed uncomfortable with the format. I can't believe this show is such a huge hit. When a show about teen pregnancy has a "warning" for parents, you know there is something wrong. I know things have changed since I was a teen, but I find this very irresponsible. I also wonder why they chose to start out this show with the fact that the main character finds out she's pregnant. It seems to me that it limits the storyline and puts all the focus on teen pregnancy. The fact that this show is so disturbing to me has also ruined my image of Molly Ringwald. She did so many great movies in the 80's that to see her in something like this is disheartening. For one thing, she doesn't look old enough to have a teenage daughter. I'm glad she's found a successful series, but I think she can do so much better than this horrible TV show.

Want to watch Shailene Woodley when she was just starting as an actress? This is a tour-de-force where her character, Amy, is in almost every scene, playing a pregnant teen who doesn't want to give up her baby. As in most teen dramas, the adults take 2nd billing, and though we all love Molly Ringwald, she does not display many acting chops in this one. Amy's younger sister steals almost every scene she's in with her deadpan, comic delivery! Kept me interested to find out what would happen next with the ever-changing relationships between leads.
