Rate this:
Peter and the Wolf and the Lieutenant Kijé Suite represent on of the most lovable sides of the composer Sergei Prokofieff (1891-1953), his warm attachment to youth. Peter and the Wolf was composed in 1936 as a symphonic setting of a fairy tale for children, the text of which was written by Prokofieff himself. The Lieutenant Kijé music was composed in 1933, first as a score for a film of the same name, and then recast as a symphonic suite in five movements. -- liner notes.
