Hiccup is a Viking teenager who aspires to hunt dragons, but doesn't exactly fit in with his tribe's longstanding tradition of heroic dragon slayers. I LOVED this movie! In many ways I saw my cats behaviours which really helped for me to relate to toothless and bond with the character.

TL/DR: The first movie was way better than the first book, but the book series as a whole was better than the movie/TV series. But I still love them both!

This movie was so good that it made me want to read the book series (and I'm a 20-something-adult!). The relationship between Hiccup and Toothless is real, the animation is beautiful, and the story entrancing. I appreciated the fact that they didn't Disney-fy the ending, even though some viewers could find it upsetting.

While the first movie was AMAZING, (and ten times the story found in the first book), the written series does a better job of keeping the characters at an age that is relatable for the audience the story was originally geared towards (though this child trapped in an adult's body does enjoy watching Hiccup and Astrid grow up). The written series (as well as the first movie) also has better villains and a more cohesive story arch.

Man, Dreamworks is a total mixed bag. On one hand, they can put out some pretty lackluster, derivitive movies that noone wants to watch. On the other hand, they produce gems like How To Train Your Dragon that make you seriously compare them to Disney as competition.

i LOVE the movie! and how to train your dragon 2 is also very awesome! I love all the books and have read them over and over! I even have mastered dragoneas! If you have too, leave a like so I know I'm not the only one! How To Train Your Dragon 3 is absolutely epic! Maybe not as epic as number two or one, but a great love story and amazing on explaining where the dragons all went! I recommend this movie to all! Because its amazing!!!

This is my all-time favorite movie! When I first saw it, I was going through a hard time. I saw myself as Hiccup in the film and really related to him and his outsider situation. Thank you DreamWorks!! :D

Toothless is so CUTE! I've watched this movie so many times I at one time had most of the lines memorized. HTTYD is on my top ten favorite movie list! Also T J Miller does Tuff Nut's voice. I have read about 10 minutes worth of one of the books, it was dreary. The awesome thing about this movie is it leaves a ton of story left to be told by Defenders and Riders of Berk, and Race to the Edge. Both all three of those series are awesome and hilarious, and if there are some Race to the Edge DVDs out there, I suggest the Library pick up some copies, they would be extremely popular. Personally like Skrills the most.

Hiccup a young viking who is less than viking-like wants to fit in with the village so he sets out to hunt and capture the deadliest dragon known to man.

He later realizes that it's his difference that make him special and great.

Also, the dragons behave like cats. This resulted in feelings of disappointment toward my tiny, wingless cat. I know it's not her fault but it would be great if she just started flying or something.
