I was inspired by much of Esmonde-White's discussion of the process of aging. The text is simple and informative. She lost much of my respect though when she suggests that all forms of exercise, with the exceptions of her movement system and tai chi, lead to injury. A varied menu of exercise, approached with intelligence, is best for the body. Her exercise protocol is only one among many effective and fun forms of exercise. I also found that some of the exercises demonstrated by her models were executed with poor form that could lead to injury if practised in that way. In particular, to exaggerate the "C-curve" (her words) of the spine is contraindicated for individuals suffering from osteoporosis. (This increases the load on the more fragile anterior surface of the spinal vertebrae, and could lead to compression fractures.) In brief, some good information in regards to the physiology of aging, but some questionable alignment in the exercises.
