Ho-Hum!.... If you ask me - I thought that Kubrick's "The Shining" was total "Redrum" humdrum, from start to finish. My argument is this - I cannot believe that a hotel (which obviously housed so many mean and malevolent spirits within its walls) wouldn't have had endless complaints from its guests in regards to being terrorized by these ghastly ghostly-ones. But it wasn't until the hotel had been completely cleared of its guests and the Torrance family were its only "living" occupants that these wicked-minded ghosts came out of their closets. Some say that it was young Danny Torrance's "shining" that somehow opened up the portal to this ghostly netherland. But, of course, that angle makes no sense since the hotel's clairvoyant cook, Halloran, had been an employee at the Overlook for years and, yet, his presence and his "shining" never affected an all-out haunting. Nope. With all of that in mind - This super-dumb horror movie only deserves a 1-star rating from me.
