Dr. Anna Fox is a wife, mother, child psychologist, and for close to a year now, an agoraphobic; unable to leave her home from fear of the outside. Her hobbies include spying on her neighbours, watching old movies and drinking copious amounts of merlot. While medicated... and drunk, she witnesses something in the house across the street. Of course, no one believes her. Is she safe? Did it happen? Has she lost her mind? This book really is "unputdownable!" I felt connected to Anna, I liked her and wanted to trust her. Other reviewers complained that her drinking became too repetitive throughout the novel. While that's technically true, she IS an alcoholic. I felt the mention of her drinking was necessary, to really gauge the state of mind she was in. What I did find overdone however, were the movie references. Having only seen maybe one of those movies, the characters, dialogue, and scenes described made me feel somewhat disconnected and eventually annoyed. All that being said, this book had me guessing from the start! I figured out one major twist on my own, but did not see that ending coming! Highly enjoyable, well worth the read.
