While I wouldn't consider this film to be any kind of masterpiece of cinema, it was a fun period piece with plenty of twists and turns. A depraved murderer stalks a London suburb, and the investigation draws Inspector Kildare into the colorful and depraved world of Victorian music halls. It's an over-the-top adventure full of dark secrets and darker deeds. The plot isn't particularly unpredictable or nuanced and none of the characters suffer an abundance of depth, but it's an enjoyable movie with plenty of memorable moments.
