Andrew Lloyd Webber & the 2004 movie version starring Gerard Butler, Emmy Rossum, & Patrick Wilson. I LOVE the 2004 movie, so the book was set with a very high expectation. One of the things that was left out of the movie was the role of the Persian. He plays a fairly significant role in the book, & by reading the book, some of the little details in the movie now make total sense. I do, however, like how the movie ended, leaving you to draw your own conclusions to some of the questions. The book adds a bit more detail to story past the point of the Christine's release from the Phantom's lair including the fate of the Phantom. The story still leaves a bit of question as to what happened to Raul, Christine, & their relationship. I believe it leads you more toward a certain conclusion, but you still have just a twinge of doubt. I enjoy these endings because it leaves you to linger over the story past the point of finishing the book. Age recommendation: 14 & over On a scale of 1-10 stars, I give it 7.
