I liked these books. I like vampires and I like the idea of falling in love with a fated mate. What really sells this story - is the description of the Cullens. They are who are interesting. Bella's a witty, more complex character in this book - than we get to see in the movie. And Edward is more alive, funnier. You see why they get together and I don't think anyone imagined a bunch of glittering vampires when they read this book, she made it clear that it was an alien type appearance. What you're staring at is someone frozen in time - with a diamond-like appearance as in tough. I don't know how this translated to the movie as sparkly vampires. But there are so many great scenes in this book that were completely changed in the movie. The moment when Edward reveals he's a vampire - happens in a completely different location, that is much more humanizing. I just really like the book more. This movie adaptation is one you sit down and make fun of. There is just so much staring.
