Once I was able to stay awake long enough to read it, I liked this novel a lot. I first read it more than 20 years ago, and enjoyed it more the second time. It has a lot of light, beauty and wisdom to it, as well as some of the dark, strangeness and magic you might expect from Ray Bradbury. Similar to the dandelion wine described in the book, the novel bottles the summer of 1928 as it occurred in one Illinois city. You might also want to try reading it if you have insomnia; Dandelion Wine has the ability to put me to sleep after just one or two pages of nighttime reading.
